Status Applicants

Status applicants are those persons who meet one of the following criteria:

  • Anyone currently serving on a career-conditional or career appointment with the Federal government;
or
  • Anyone who has reinstatement eligibility based upon career-conditional or career service with the Federal government during which a probationary period was completed.

Reinstatement Eligibility

Former employees who completed three years of continuous, creditable service leading to a career appointment have lifetime eligibility for reinstatement. The three years of continuous service usually begin with a non-temporary appointment and must not include breaks in service of more than 30 days. Former career-conditional employees who have NOT had three years of continuous service leading to a career appointment have reinstatement eligibility for three years only from the date they left Federal service.

Veterans may have special reinstatement eligibility and should contact the Human Resource Branch for clarification.
