Stay Young at Heart - Portion Distortion

Portion Distortion!

Do You Know How Food Portions Have
Changed in 20 Years?

Anyone eating on the run or at restaurants has probably noticed that food portions have gotten larger. Some portions are called "super size," while others have simply grown in size and provide enough food for at least two people. With this growth have come increases in waistlines and body weight.

Take this short quiz to see if you know how today's portions compare to the portions available 20 years ago.

To begin the quiz, you will see two pictures, the first illustrates the portion size 20 years ago and the second depicts sample portion sizes of today. Below the first picture is the number of calories supplied 20 years ago. You are to select the number of calories you think are in today's portion. Check your answer to see how you did.

To maintain your weight, the extra calories you eat need to be burned up through physical activity. The question is how much physical activity? Choose the amount of physical activity required to burn up the extra calories provided by today's food portions.

We hope you find the quiz insightful and fun. We also hope that next time you eat on the run, you will think twice about the food portions offered to you.
