Subject: Telemarketing Review

Telemarketing review, comment FTC File No. P994414.

Our experience with telemarketers has been once you have said NO they very rudely hang up without saying a single word. The other problem is their use of automatic dialers where they dial several numbers at one time and the first one answered is OK, the other rings when answered do not have anyone there. In the meantime you have stopped whatever you were doing to answer your phone only to find no one there. This happens several times a day. We have a caller ID which only shows us an unidentified caller, yet we have a block on phone from US West that supposed to make dialers show their phone number. So, somehow telemarketers are able to by pass this block, but our friends tell us the blocks work whenever they attempt to call us with their number being suppressed.

We understand that marketing by phone is a reasonable business but this does not mean they should annoy people and be rude when they don't hear the response they were expecting.

We believe they should be more tightly regulated in these regards.

Thank you,

Mr. & Mrs. Alfred Mack
