I am Marsha Mason-Thies, Marketing Director for the Aircraft Owners and
Pilots Association and the AOPA Air Safety Foundation.  Over the last
several years, we have raised millions from our telemarketing efforts.
We use the phone to ask individuals to renew their support as well as to
make special gifts for situations that arise during the course of the year -
including the devistating affects to our industry after 9/11.  We employ
reputable, professional telemarketing firms because we have neither the
expertise nor the resources to establish an in-house operation.  Replacing
the income attained from our tele-fundraising efforts would be extremely
difficult, if not impossible.  A national Do Not Call list that inhibits our ability
to communicate with our own members would have a dramatic negative impact on us.

As fundraisers, we provide all of our members with every opportunity to be
placed on our own Do Not Call list if they so choose.

We ask that if a national Do Not Call list is put in place that it contain
an exemption for prior relationships.  Thank you for your time.
