FILE SPECIFICATIONS FOR ELECTRONIC ITEMS
These public release electronic data items are
offered on cartridge tape (EBCDIC) or CD-ROM depending on the
particular item. File specifications for CD-ROM products are
located on the CD.

Panel
This file contains the universe of all
institutions that reported under HMDA. The panel information is
taken from the database at the same time the final aggregate and
disclosure reports are prepared.

Census Data
The census file contains the nationwide census data that are used
as input to HMDA processing. It is important to note that census
tracts are drastically different for the 2000 decennial census that
is used for 2003 data. The metropolitan area definitions in 2003
remained unchanged from 1999 definitions, but not the tracts. The
2004 data reflect the Office of Management and Budget's new geographic
classifications that were released in June 2003 and updated in December
2003, and significantly changed the way metropolitan areas are defined.
