Opportunities for Supercomputer Time
on IGERT Projects
The Division of Advanced Computational Infrastructure and Research, CISE
Directorate, has advised on procedures for obtaining time on the NSF PACI
(Partnership for Advanced Computational Infrastructure) supercomputer
sites to support computational projects by IGERT students and faculty.
If an investigator is requesting only a "small" amount of time,
each PACI site has set aside a small amount of Director's discretionary
time for start-up projects and for educational purposes.
If the request is for a substantial project, then the investigator must
apply to the allocation committees at the PACI sites. The allocation committees
meet twice a year to determine access to their (limited) resources. This
assumes that these requests will not be extremely large, since they would
otherwise have to apply to a National Resource Allocation Committee that
is run jointly by both PACI sites.
