Federal Employees Assist 33 Agencies During Annual CFC Day of Caring

More than 350 federal employees are expected to volunteer for the Greater Chattanooga Area Combined Federal Campaign’s 10th annual Day of Caring on Friday, Sept.10.

“Federal employees in the Chattanooga area are known for volunteering their time, talent and resources to those in need, ” said Ron Loving, TVA’s senior vice president of outage planning and execution and chairman of the 2004 Greater Chattanooga Area Combined Federal Campaign. “By volunteering on the annual day of caring, they see first-hand how their contributions provide hope for those in our community in times of need.”

Employees from TVA and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service will participate. U. S. Postal Service employees will volunteer on Saturday, Sept. 11. Employees will provide hands-on assistance – such as painting, building, cleaning, and landscaping – to 33 local agencies that receive contributions from the CFC.

The CFC is held annually to give federal employees an opportunity to contribute to charitable, health and human services organizations in 20 counties in Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power supplier, and its power system is self-financed. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve 8.5 million consumers in seven southeastern states.
