TVA To Hold Open House on Watts Bar Land Plan

September 16, 2004

HARRIMAN, Tenn. -- TVA will hold a public open house on Tuesday, Sept. 28, in Harriman to hear comments on the scope of TVA’s Watts Bar Reservoir Land Plan, which is being developed to help guide future land and resource management decisions on Watts Bar Reservoir.

“The proposed draft plan will identify the most suitable uses for approximately 14,000 acres of TVA-managed land,” said TVA Resource Stewardship Vice President Bridgette Ellis. “The plan will provide a clear vision of how TVA will manage the public lands and balance conflicting land uses.”

The open house will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Roane State Community College, 276 Patton Lane, in Harriman.

TVA is interested in receiving comments on the potential of the proposed plan to affect the environment or historic properties and in identifying any other issues associated with the development of the plan. To submit comments click here or send comments to Richard Toennisson, TVA NEPA Administration, WT 8C, 400 W. Summit Hill Dr., Knoxville, TN 37902. Comments will be accepted through Oct. 8.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely selffinanced. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve approximately 8.5 million consumers in seven southeastern states. TVA also manages the Tennessee River and its tributaries to provide multiple benefits, including flood control, navigation, water quality and recreation.
