TVA To Hold Open House on Proposed Power Line

October 5, 2004

CALHOUN, Ga. – TVA will hold an open house to hear public comments on proposed power system improvements in Whitfield and Gordon counties.

The proposed transmission line is needed to improve reliability and meet the growing demand for reliable electric power in the area served by North Georgia Electric Membership Corporation.

The open house will be held from 3-7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 7, at the Calhoun Recreation Center, 601 River St.

The proposed power line would extend from TVA’s Center Point Substation south of Dalton to a new TVA Moss Lake Substation near Calhoun, and connect to North Georgia EMC’s Tilton Substation. Approximately 3.3 miles of existing right-of-way would be used with 12.2 miles of new right-of-way to be acquired.

Detailed maps showing alternative line routes will be available at the open house, and TVA staff will be on hand to answer questions, discuss concerns and receive comments on the proposals. The maps also are available at www.tva.com/power/projects.htm.
