Under his direction, TVA nuclear plants set world refueling records as well as a world generation record.

Prior to joining TVA, Singer served in the U.S. Navy, where he held a variety of positions, including tactical weapons training and certification inspector, engineering department head, associate professor of naval science, officer-in-charge and main propulsion assistant, reactor controls assistant, and chemistry and radiological controls assistant.
