TVA Director to Meet with Regional Resource Stewardship Council

GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. – TVA Director Skila Harris will meet with the Regional Resource Stewardship Council in Guntersville on Wednesday, August 29, to discuss the council’s recommendations to the TVA Board.
The council, which was created to advise TVA on the management of natural resources in the Tennessee Valley, submitted recommendations to the Board from its Water Quality, Integrated River Management and Public Lands subcommittees.
Recommendations from the Water Quality subcommittee involve aquatic plant management policy on Tennessee River reservoirs, and recommendations of the Public Lands subcommittee address stewardship funding and stakeholder relations policy. The Integrated River Management subcommittee recommended a new study of reservoir operations policies and how delayed drawdowns of tributary reservoirs would impact water quality, navigation, recreation, and flood control downstream.
Also included on the agenda are a report from the council’s legislative working group, which traveled to Washington in July, and other recommendations from the Public Lands, Navigation and Water Quality subcommittees.
Council meetings are open to the public and include a public comment period, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and end at 2 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Lake Guntersville State Park, 1155 Lodge Drive, Guntersville, Alabama.
Anyone wanting to make comments at the meeting should register at the door. Speakers are asked to limit their remarks to no more than five minutes. Up to an hour will be allotted for public comments with participation available on a first-come, first-served basis. Hand-out materials should be limited to one printed page.
