to Hold 20th Annual Wildflower Walks

NORRIS, Tenn. — TVA will hold annual spring wildflower walks at
the River Bluff TVA Small Wild Area on the Norris Dam Reservation Saturday,
March 29, and Saturday, April 5, 2003.
The
guided walks are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. each Saturday
at the Small Wild Area, which is located along the Clinch River west
of Norris Dam. The walks are free and hosted by the TVA Natural Areas
Program.
Cooperators include Ijams Nature Center, Norris Dam State Park,
and the Friends of Norris Dam State Park.
The
trail is a moderately difficult 3.2-mile loop and is known for a
spectacular array of spring wildflowers, especially yellow trout
lilies, celandine poppies, bloodroot, spring beauties, and toothwort.
The
hikes will be held rain or shine, and participants are encouraged to
wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather.

To
reach the River Bluff Small Wild Area, take the Lake City exit
(No. 128) off I-75 north of Knoxville. Follow U.S. Hwy. 441 past
the Norris
Dam State Park entrance on your left and continue approximately
three-fourths of a mile to Dabney Road on your right. The Small Wild
Area trailhead parking
area is located approximately three-fourths of a mile from this
right turn.
