Knoxville-Area TVA Employees Exceed CFC Goal

December 17, 2002

Knoxville-area TVA employees contributed more than $530,000 to the 2002 Smoky Mountain Region Combined Federal Campaign to raise money for charitable agencies, exceeding their goal by $100,000.

TVA contributions were up more than $53,400 from last year’s campaign.

“I am thrilled at our record-breaking campaign,” said TVA Director Bill Baxter, who served as chairman of the TVA campaign and the Smoky Mountain Region CFC. “I thank Knoxville-area TVA employees for the difference they have made in the lives of thousands of folks who need a little help along the way.”

TVA CFC co-chairs were employees Rose Sexton and Ray Asbury. Knoxville-area TVA employees include those who work in Norris or at Bull Run, John Sevier and Kingston fossil plants.

Since 1995, the Knoxville-area TVA CFC has raised more than $3 million. The Smoky Mountain region includes federal employees in 22 counties in East Tennessee, one county in Kentucky, and one county in Virginia.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power producer, and its power system is self-financed. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve 8.3 million consumers in seven southeastern states.
