TVA’s Online Business Resource Center Goes Live

September 30, 2002

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – On Tuesday, October 1, TVA will launch its new Online Business Resource Center, offering business information and resources to developing and existing businesses.

The electronic resource center will link business entrepreneurs to TVA and its strategic business partners, including the U.S. Small Business Administration, America’s Small Business Development Centers, the Minority Business Development Agency, state economic development agencies, educational institutions, small and minority business publications, and public power distributor Web sites.

“This change to a Web-based resource center is part of TVA’s efforts to make our information products and services even more accessible,” says TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development John Bradley. “The Online Resource Center will help small, minority, and disadvantaged entrepreneurs gain immediate access to business information and resources in a cost-effective manner.”

To access the Online Business Resource Center, users can go to www.tva.com/econdev/obr.

For more than a decade, TVA has provided the Mobile Business Center to help support and provide expertise to small, developing businesses. Since 1989, the Mobile Center has visited 154 communities and provided consultation services to an average of almost 3,000 businesses a year.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power producer, and its power system is self-financed. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve 8.3 million consumers in seven southeastern states.
