TVA Launches TVAkids.com, New Childrens Web SiteDecember 9, 2002 TVA is inviting the younger residents of the Tennessee Valley to visit its newest Web site, created especially for children. The site, tvakids.com, is geared toward children in the fourth through eighth grades. The Web site provides information on the generation of electricity, the Tennessee River system, and TVAs dedication to a clean environment. The addition of a Web site devoted to children helps TVA reach our future stakeholders across the Tennessee Valley, said TVA Chairman Glenn L. McCullough, Jr. TVAkids.com provides children and educators with helpful information about the mission of TVA, the importance of our work, and the history that has brought us here. The site has tips on water and electrical safety and energy conservation. It provides explanations of TVA operations and information for use in class projects, reports, and other learning activities. Parents and educators can also benefit from tvakids.com. The teachers section provides curriculum plans that can be downloaded for classroom use. Teachers can also access several of TVAs educational programs, as well as field trip information. Parents can use information from the site to assist their children with homework.
