TVA, City of Clinton, Congressman Wamp Partner on Shoreline Stabilization Meeting

December 5, 2002

CLINTON, Tenn. – Lakefront property owners will have an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about options available for stabilizing reservoir shoreline at a public information meeting to be held on Monday, December 16, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Clinton Community Center.

Representatives from the Tennessee Valley Authority, United States Army Corps of Engineers, and Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation will be available to answer questions about stabilization options, permitting, watershed issues, and land use on Melton Hill Reservoir. Other partners include Congressman Zach Wamp’s office, the City of Clinton, and the Melton Hill Lake Users Association.

A special drawdown of Melton Hill Reservoir is planned for March 27, 2003 to allow property owners to stabilize the shoreline and repair docks. If river conditions allow, the reservoir drawdown will end April 5, which coincides with River Rescue, an annual shoreline cleanup event sponsored by the Melton Hill Lake Users Association.

The Clinton Community Center is located one block behind the Anderson County Courthouse at the corner of West Broad Street and Hicks Street.
