Madison, Wisconsin -- J.B. Van Hollen, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Travis A. Stulen, Superior, Wisconsin, DOB 11/16/77, pleaded guilty today in United States District Court in Madison to unlawfully possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. United States District Judge Barbara B. Crabb scheduled sentencing for November 16, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. Stulen faces a maximum penalty of ten years in prison.

Stulen had a Walther PPK .380 caliber pistol with him when a vehicle in which he was riding was stopped by the Superior Police Department on June 9, 2004. Stulen was convicted in Douglas County in 2001 of felony fleeing/eluding an officer.

The charge against Stulen was the result of an investigation conducted by the Superior Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant United States Attorney Rita M. Rumbelow.
