The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) employs approximately 2,100 military (from all services) and civilian personnel. DTRA headquarters is located at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and most of the agency's employees work in the National Capital Region. DTRA sites in the Washington, D.C., area are located at Fort Belvoir and Alexandria, Virginia. DTRA personnel are located at Albuquerque, New Mexico; Darmstadt, Germany; Moscow, Russia; and Yokota Air Base, Japan.

DTRA employees have a variety of skills to include nuclear physicists, policy analysts and treaty experts, mechanical, civil, electrical and computer engineers, chemists, biologists, linguists, accountants, program analysts, contract, personnel, financial and logistics management specialists.
