Assessment of Catastrophic Events Center (ACECenter)

Hazard Prediction and Assessment Capability (HPAC)

What is HPAC?

HPAC software predicts the effects of hazardous material releases into the atmosphere and its collateral effects on civilian and military populations. This counterproliferation/ counterforce tool assists warfighters in destroying targets containing weapons of mass destruction and responding to hazardous agent releases. It employs integrated source terms, high resolution weather forecasts and particulate transport algorithms to rapidly model hazard areas and human collateral effects. For a more detailed description of HPAC, please read the factsheet.

How can I get HPAC?

Cover of the HPAC software package.HPAC is available by license from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency to the U.S. government, government contractors and educational institutions for non-commercial research. Approval will be granted on a case-by-case basis. HPAC registration and upgrade information is available.

Existing licensed HPAC users are encouraged to download the much enhanced version 4.0.3. Please note that DTRA will no longer provide technical support for prior versions of HPAC after 1 Oct 2003. We strongly encourage that you upgrade to HPAC 403 as soon as possible.
