The objective is to implement a prototype, inter-agency demonstration project under the Chesapeake Bay Initiative. The proposed project will stabilize 3,600 feet of critically eroding shoreline with innovative Seabee shoreline armor. Seabees are unique shoreline armor units designed to dissipate wave energy and are manufactured from concrete, vitrified clay, or other suitable material. These Seabee geo-tech blocks will be manufactured from concrete that will encase flyash byproduct generated from local waste management activities. The final product will be to stabilize the 3,600 feet of eroding shoreline with a Seabee Structure designed to be structurally equivalent to a properly designed riprap structure. This project will also serve as an education outreach demonstration for utilizing this unique recycled product for shoreline stabilization.
