Description

The Blinded Veterans Association (BVA), founded in 1945, promotes the welfare of blind and visually impaired veterans. The BVA helps these veterans become oriented or readjusted and obtain vocational training, finds them jobs, informs them of benefits and of the latest technical aids and developments in the field, and represents them at the national level. A field service program provides counseling to blinded and visually impaired veterans regarding their rights; benefits available from Federal, State, and local agencies; and assistance in obtaining benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). BVA's hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and voice mail is available 24 hours. There are 52 regional groups.

Print Resources

A pamphlet on the organization and a pamphlet on the employability of the blind are available on request. Serial publication: BVA Bulletin, six times per year--available in large type; BVA members also receive a cassette edition.
