description

The National Headache Foundation (NHF), formerly the National Migraine Foundation, a nonprofit organization, was established in 1970. The Foundation is dedicated to three major goals: to educate the public to the fact that headaches are a legitimate biological disease and that sufferers should reveive understanding and continuity of care; to promote research into potential headache causes and treatments; and to serve as an educational resource for headache sufferers and their families. The NHF disseminates free information on headache causes and treatments, funds research and sponsors public and professional education seminars nationwide. In addition to functioning as a clearinghouse for information, NHF also has audio and video tapes, brochures and other helpful materials available for purchase. A nationwide network of support groups has been organized. To request information and a complimentary copy of NHF Head Lines, send a self-addressed, business-letter sized envelope with three first-class stamps affixed. Mention headache type or briefly describe symptoms if undiagnosed. A state list of NHF physician members is available on request.
