Managing Off-Highway Vehicles
Draft National OHV Policy
Announced - July 7, 2004
The Forest Service is announcing its
draft proposal for public comment regarding a national
approach to govern OHV and other motor vehicle use on
national forests and grasslands. The proposed rule
would allow the agency to improve how it manages this
use by balancing the public's enjoyment of using OHVs
with ensuring the best possible care of the land. For

There is a
60-day public comment period on the proposed rule ending
September 13, 2004. Comments on the proposed rule

website. This Executive Order provides direction in the
management of off-highway vehicles on National Forest
System lands.

regulations are under consideration for change for
