Reorganization of PMB

The Department reorganized its Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy, Management and Budget on June 24, 2004. The reorganization helps fully integrate and align performance and management with human resources policy and planning. Click below for additional information:

Focus on Results: Accomplishments of the Department of the Interior for FY2003
The Focus on Results Report spotlights accomplishments of the 70,000 employees and 200,000 volunteers of the Department of the Interior during Fiscal Year 2003. It is a testament to who we are, what we do, and how we have served the public.

Government Performance and Results Act Strategic Plan
The Department's FY2003 - FY2008 strategic plan is the linchpin that integrates DOI management. Finalized in September 2003, the plan organizes the Department's goals and department-level performance measures into four mission areas, with bureau inputs, outputs, and actions linked to these measures. The plan replaces eight distinct bureau plans with a single, cohesive framework supplemented by bureau plans that tier from this framework.

Performance and Accountability Report (PAR)
The Performance and Accountability Report summarizes the highlights of the Department during the fiscal year. It fulfills the requirements of the Reports Consolidation Act, Chief Financial Officers Act, Government Performance and Results Act, Federal Managers' Financial Integrity Act, and Government Management Reform Act. More importantly, it provides our stakeholders with the ability to assess our performance relative to our mission and the financial resources with which we are entrusted. The most recent version of the Department's PAR is available here.

FY 2005 Budget in Brief
The FY 2005 Budget in Brief document summarizes and highlights the programs of the Department of the Interior and its FY 2005 President's budget request. The FY 2005 President's budget request aligns with the new strategic plan's four strategic mission components: Resource Protection, Resource Use, Recreation, and Serving Communities.

Strategic Human Capital Management Plan
The Department’s Strategic Human Capital Management Plan for FY 2003 - FY 2007 was published in September 2002. The Plan explores the demographic features of our workforce, its geographic dispersion, and the wide diversity of skills needed to fulfill our mission. The Plan also describes four external and internal "drivers" that are shaping the extent, complexity, and volume of our work.

Strategic Human Capital Plan Implementation and Workforce Planning Report

In September 2003, the Department published the Strategic Human Capital Plan Implementation and Workforce Planning Report. The Report describes progress made to date in implementing the Strategic Human Capital Plan and provides an overview of the bureau workforce planning efforts.
