Status and Promising Directions for Field Reversed Configuration Research

The purpose of this workshop is to critically examine the status of the theory of the stability of the Field Reversed Configuration, to compare this with past experimental observations, and to identify promising areas for near term theoretical and future experimental investigations.

SCHEDULE: The meeting will begin on 8:30 am the 8th and continue until 3:00 pm on the 9th. Talks are nominally 30 min, with 10-15 for discussion either immediately after the talk or during discussion periods. There will also be separate summary and discussion sessions. FRC theory consortium members are encouraged to stay over until the 10th for further planning of consortium activities. We will have a group dinner the night of the 8th.
HOTELS: A block of rooms has been booked at the Novotel Hotel at a cost of $87/night. The rooms will be held until May 24th. Mention "Promising Directions" or FRC-workshop. Shuttle service will be provided to the lab. The Novotel Hotel is located on Route 1 North (northbound side), about 1 mile north of PPPL, just prior to the intersection of Route 1 and Ridge Road. It is directly across from the Holiday Inn. Traveling south on Route 1, use the U-Turn at College Road to return to Route 1, northbound.
