About Us

The U. S. Commercial Service is an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The U.S. Commercial Service maintains a worldwide business counseling network with offices in more than 100 cities in the United States and 158 offices in 85 countries overseas.

The mission of the Commercial Service is to support U.S. firms - especially small and medium sized companies - in their efforts to increase exports and conduct business abroad. The U.S. Commercial Service offices overseas are usually located in U.S. Embassies or Consulates. We advise U.S. businesses on local trade and tariff regulations, government procurement procedures and business practices; we help identify potential importers, agents and distributors; we assist with resolution of trade and investment disputes; and we recruit and organize trade events.
