On Tuesday, July 27, 2004, Ambassador Swindells hosted the inaugural 21-Club Luncheon in the U.S. Embassy’s auditorium. The 21-Club comprises the CEOs of the 21 U.S. companies that maintain their New Zealand head offices in Wellington. The forum provides an opportunity for Ambassador Swindells, mission personnel and the CEOs to exchange views on how to support, develop and protect U.S. business interests in New Zealand. Pictured with Ambassador Swindells are CEO New Zealand representatives from Caltex, Computer Associates, EDS, LAD Communications, Mag-Tek, Mobil, Schering-Plough, and Swift Energy. Also photographed and in attendance at the 21-Club Luncheon is Mike Hearn, Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand.
Former Governor of New Jersey Christine Whitman was in New Zealand July 27-30th to speak about leadership, urban growth and environmental protection.

Fieldays 2004 was another overwhelming success this year recording the most visitors ever in its 37 year history. The commercial service was on hand to answer queries and promote US agricultural companies from the United States.
