Board of Veterans'
Appeals Customer Service Program
The Board of Veterans' Appeals strives to provide
the best customer service possible. Our goal is
excellence.
The standards we have set for the Board
are:
- We will treat you with courtesy and
respect.
- We will review your appeal thoroughly and decide
it fairly.
- We will inform you of significant developments
in your appeal.
- We will decide your appeal in a timely
manner.
To help us meet our goal, we have trained staff
available to answer questions about the status of your appeal.
If you need general information about the status of
your appeal call our Veterans Information Office (VIO) at 202 565-5436, Monday - Friday 8:00 A.M. to 4:30
P.M.
In addition, the Board has recently developed an
Ombudsman position. The Board Ombudsman was created to handle
complaints or suggestions about our customer service
performance.
If you have a complaint or suggestion about our
customer service, please contact the BVA Ombudsman via e-mail at
or fax
to 202 565-5587.
Please provide your VA file number (a number preceded
by C or SS) and your name in the subject banner when sending an e-mail to
the Ombudsman site. If you
have been assigned a claim (C) number, use the C number.
If you have not been assigned a claim number, use your social
security (SS) number. This
will assist the Ombudsman to efficiently respond to your inquiry and
identify your case.
Please do not send any sort of
attachment as the Ombudsman will not open any attachment you send to us.
Before sending personal information by e-mail, please
click on these two web sites and read the important information regarding
the privacy and security of the information you send:
