Evaluation: The National institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is conducting a comprehensive, longitudinal study of pre- and postdoctoral trainees supported on National Research Service Award (NRSA) institutional training grants, trainees on NRSA fellowships, and Research Career Development Awardees. We will evaluate whether an adequate percentage of NIAID trainees pursue research careers in areas of interest to NIAID, how outcomes vary by type of training support, race/ethnicity, or gender of trainee, and what changes in NIAID training programs are indicated.
