National Energy Policy A Strategic Imperative Energy is the lifeblood of our national infrastrucure. It is woven into every aspect of the national economy, as well as into business, government, and consumer activities. Energy has also become an important aspect of national security because of America's significant ties with non-domestic energy suppliers. Seminar participants will receive an overview of the technical, economic, and security aspects of energy supply and demand. The seminar will address the full spectrum of energy forms, including petroleum, electricity (coal, gas, nuclear), renewables (including hydro, solar, wind), and energy conservation. Participants will gain an understanding of the energy field's complex interactions and how energy policy can affect the national economy and energy security. Additional seminar sessions will focus on a history of national energy policy, how policy affects energy use, demand and economics, and current energy policy initiatives and their potential implications. Participants will be provided with new perspectives that will allow them to better evaluate the economic and security implications of potential future energy policies.
