Nancy Berk, Ph.D. received her doctorate in clinical
psychology from Vanderbilt University.
In 1995, Dr. Berk received an NIDR/ORWH/NIH re-entry award for the examination of psychosocial
factors and adjustment in patients with cleft lip and palate in China. Her
research includes the examination of the genetic transmissibility of social anxiety
in oral-facial cleft populations, psychosocial function in cleft families, and
craniofacial outcomes assessment. She
lectures extensively on the psychosocial impact of craniofacial anomalies.
Dr. Berk is a member of the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association and is a board member of the Cleft Palate Foundation. Previously, she served as the associate head of administration and associate director of international affairs for the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and is a past director of the Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Center.
