Todd C. Edwards, Ph.D. is a Research Scientist in the Health Services Department at the University of Washington in Seattle.  His research interests include community development and participation, knowledge utilization in public policy formulation, and quality of life as a societal issue.  He has worked for the past 4 years with Dr. Donald Patrick and the rest of the Youth Quality of Life (YQOL) Research Group on studies of quality of life among children and adolescents with and without chronic conditions and disabilities.  The YQOL Group recently completed psychometric validation work on an instrument called the Youth Quality of Life Instrument – Research Version (YQOL-R) (Edwards, Huebner, Connell, & Patrick, in press; Patrick, Edwards, & Topolski, in press), a generic instrument they developed which is designed for youth ages 12 to 18 with and without chronic conditions.  Information on the YQOL Group and use of the YQOL instruments will be made available on the following website in the near future: http://www.depts.washington.edu/hserv/yqol.
