JULIE PULERWITZ, Sc.D.
Julie Pulerwitz, Sc.D.
is a behavioral scientist with the Horizons project, a global HIV/AIDS
operations research project funded by USAID and led by the Population
Council. She is seconded from PATH to
the project. Her main areas of research
and program development include gender, sexuality, and HIV/AIDS, as well as
HIV-related stigma. Currently, she is
working on studies in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Vietnam, and Brazil. She has published in a number of journals,
including the American Journal of Public Health and Sex Roles. Dr. Pulerwitz received her masters and
doctoral degrees from the Harvard School of Public Health, as well as a
graduate degree from the University of Buenos Aires School of Public
Health. She has received the Sexuality
Research Fellowship from the Social Science Research Council, and was a
Saltonstall Fellow at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies. She is this year’s recipient of the Young
Investigator Award from the Family Planning & Reproductive Health Section
of the American Public Health Association.
