The Customer Affairs Branch establishes and maintains communication with all customers of the Office of Coast Survey, including the U.S. military, other Federal government agencies, international organizations, over 7,000 commercial shippers, 35,000 commercial fishermen, and 250,000 recreational boaters. The Branch assesses the current and evolving needs of its customers and designs and develops products to meet those needs. The Branch coordinates Division involvement in nautical and marine product marketing activities and represents OCS on the NOS marketing committee. In conjunction with marketing activities, the Branch secures booth space, product displays, and selects staffers to represent NOS at trade shows held at various sites around the country. Providing a focal point for customer requests and associated responses on charting issues and short-term hydrographic surveys, it answers correspondence, E-mail and telephone inquiries concerning NOS nautical products. The Branch coordinates OCS involvement in user outreach activities. It organizes and facilitates meetings with user groups in various locations throughout the country. It is the initial point-of-contact for chart sales agents for issues outside of normal distribution questions and coordinates site visits by Division personnel to chart agents.
