Live Well Asks, ‘Do You Know Your Cholesterol Numbers?’
What can people do to reduce their risk of heart disease? Live Well says they should first identify their health risks and “know their numbers.”

Live Well encourages people to have their cholesterol levels checked once or twice a year, regardless of their age.

Anyone eligible to use the Live Well program can do this by completing a fasting-lipid profile, which provides numbers for total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol and triglycerides. (LDL, low-density lipoprotein, is sometimes referred to as “bad” cholesterol, while HDL, high-density lipoprotein, is often called “good” cholesterol.)

Knowing these numbers and associated risk factors can help people and their doctors determine what steps are needed to improve the numbers and reduce an individual’s risk for cardiovascular disease. Early detection, education and intervention are the keys to prevention.

Live Well provides this service, along with a blood-sugar screening and health-risk appraisal, free of charge to everyone eligible to use Live Well. To schedule a screening, Live Well users should contact their regional Live Well Project Manager. Here are the Project Managers and their phone numbers:
