Joins Balanced Scorecard Hall of Fame Balanced Scorecard Collaborative Inc. created the Hall of Fame to publicly acknowledge the results of organizations that implement balanced scorecards to create a strategy-focused organization. BSC President David Norton and BSCs Robert Kaplan developed the Balanced Scorecard concept in 1992. BSC says it has been implemented in thousands of corporations, organizations and government agencies worldwide. Based on the premise that measurement motivates, BSC says the scorecard program is designed to put strategy at the center of the management process, allowing organizations to implement strategies rapidly and reliably.
TVAs balanced scorecard is designed to provide measures that are understood by employees at all levels of the company.
Human Resources Executive Vice President John Long accepted the award on behalf of TVA from Balanced Scorecard Collaborative Inc. at an Oct. 8 ceremony in New Orleans. BSCs Norton says Hall of Fame winners have achieved meaningful success in their particular sector or industry, relative to specific, individual business or performance objectives. Other Balanced Scorecard Hall of Fame organizations include the U.S. Army, the City of Charlotte, Hilton Hotels, UPS, Wendys International and the University of California at San Diego. BSC lists five principles of a strategy-focused organization mobilizing change through executive leadership, translating the strategy to operational terms, aligning the organization to the strategy, motivating to make strategy everyones job, and governing to make strategy a continual process. BSC is a professional-services firm dedicated to the worldwide awareness, use, enhancement and integrity of the Balanced Scorecard as a value-added management process.
