About Rep. Platts   |   Members

The Subcommittee on Government Efficiency and Financial Management examines issues involving the overall economy, efficiency, and financial management of federal operations and activities. More specifically, the Subcommittee oversees the financial reporting and management requirements of laws such as the Chief Financial Officers Act, the Inspector General Act, the Federal Financial Management Improvement Act, and the Accountability of Tax Dollars Act. Furthermore, the Subcommittee examines the quality of agencies’ performance goals and reports in accordance with the Government Performance and Results Act. Finally, the subcommittee also has jurisdiction over the operations of federal financial services’ agencies, such as the Securities and Exchange Commission and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

The Subcommittee’s oversight for this Congress will focus on the following areas:
· Governing with accountability;
· Improving the quality of agencies’ financial reporting and management systems; and
· Reducing improper payments.

Throughout his public career, Chairman Platts has done a great deal to ensure that American taxpayers have a responsible, efficient, and financially accountable government. Although progress has been made toward these goals, much work still remains. Chairman Platts plans to work in a collaborative fashion with the Office and Management Budget, the General Accounting Office, and executive branch agencies to make the federal government accountable to its investors, the American taxpayer.
