Health Educators (2) in the API Community, UCSF/CAPS
Two Health Educators are needed by UCSF/CAPS to address HIV/AIDS prevention needs in the API community.
- HPAW Health Educator
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Health Educator at Health Project for Asian Women (HPAW), the incumbent will conduct daily outreach to Asian females working at massage parlors and provide them HIV prevention and health information.
The Health Educator will also;
- Recruit participants for the intervention study and administer surveys
- Provide client advocacy and health education to the targeted population
- Assist in the implementation of the project protocol
Required
- Being comfortable discussing sexuality with diverse populations
- Knowledge of Asian culture
- Bilingual in English and an Asian Language
- Previous experience working in the Asian community
- TEPOT Health Educator
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Health Educator at Targeted Expansion Project for Outreach and Treatment (TEPOT), the incumbent will engage in targeted daily outreach to high-risk Asian and Pacific Islander groups such as men who have sex with men (MSM) and other high-risk Asian and Pacific Islanders in San Francisco, San Mateo, and San Jose counties.
The Health Educator will also;
- Recruit participants for the study, administer surveys for intake/follow-up interview, and provide referrals
- Provide HIV prevention and substance abuse treatment information to the targeted population
- Assist in the implementation of the project protocol
Required
- Prior outreach experience within hard to reach populations
- Being comfortable discussing sexuality with diverse populations is essential
- Knowledge of Asian culture
- Bilingual in English and an Asian Language
- Previous experience working in the Asian community
Preferred
- Familiarity with San Francisco social services
- BA in social/health sciences or equivalent experience
