Maurice Chevalier was born on September 12, 1888, in Paris, France. He was a motion picture actor and a singer. In 1951 and 1954 he was reportedly refused a visa to the United States by the Department of State because of his association with Communists and Communist causes. Maurice Chevalier was never the subject of an FBI investigation, but his name is mentioned in several files. He was described as a card-carrying member of the French Communist Party. He was admitted to the United States on May 13, 1961, to attend sessions of the United Nations in his capacity as a French United Nations delegate.
