Summer Food Options

Are you looking for ways to help feed your children now that school is out for the summer? Learning does not end when school lets out, and neither does the need for proper nutrition. The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of Education have partnered with State government agencies, schools, public and private human servicing agencies, and faith-based organizations to provide you with various options to assist you with providing nutritiously-balanced meals for your family in or out of school.

Summer Food Service Program
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides free, nutritious meals and snacks to help children in low-income areas get the nutrition they need to learn, play and grow throughout the summer months when they are out of school. Commodity Supplemental Food Program
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) works to improve the health of low-income pregnant and breastfeeding women, other new mothers up to one year postpartum, infants, children up to age six, and elderly people at least 60 years of age by supplementing their diets with nutritious USDA commodity foods and providing basic nutrition education. SHARE (Self Help and Resource Exchange)
SHARE is a non-profit food and community network that promotes volunteerism, while distributing over 10,000 packages of food each month. SHARE allows you to purchase $30-$35 worth of food products for $16 and two hours of volunteer service in various communities throughout the USA. There are no income restrictions.
