Lou Gehrig, a former baseball player and team captain with the New York Yankees was under consideration as Parole Commissioner of New York City. Gehrig was born June 19, 1902, in New York City. He graduated from Columbia University and joined the Yankees in 1923. He was examined at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and was found to be suffering from "amyotrothic lateral sclerosis" better known as Lou Gehrig Disease. Gehrig set a record of playing in 2,130 consecutive games between 1925 and 1939.
