Welcome to the caBIG Web site

caBIG is a voluntary network, or grid, that links together individuals and groups both nationally and internationally to form a World Wide Web of cancer research. Members of the cancer research and health care communities have come together under the coordination of the National Cancer Institute to combine strengths and work together to accelerate cancer research and care. caBIG participants, through the coordination of eight virtual Workspaces and Working Groups, are developing tools to facilitate advances in cancer research and are sharing information and data to learn from each others' insights. The efforts of the caBIG community will further cancer research, prevention, early detection, and treatment.

To learn more about caBIG - its vision, goals, or structure, please visit the About caBIG section of this Web site.

caBIG Activities

The pilot phase of the caBIG initiative is currently underway in partnership with Cancer Centers, government agencies, the private sector, and patient advocates. caBIG activites are conducted through the coordination of 5 Workspaces and 3 Strategic Level Working Groups. They meet regularly via teleconferences and face-to-face meetings. Teleconferences are open to anyone who wishes to participate. Times and dates can be found using the calendar to the right, clicking on the Events folder to the left, or by viewing each of the Workspace/Working Group pages.
