JULIAN J. LOCKHART ARRESTED

Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Theodore Jackson of the Atlanta Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announces the arrest of JULIAN J. LOCKHART (age 28), a murder, robbery and auto theft suspect. LOCKHART, also known as "J. J." and "Premo," was wanted on charges stemming from a May, 9, 2002 incident in which LOCKHART and two associates contacted a man on the pretext of buying a used car. LOCKHART and the seller of the used car went on a "test drive." The owner of the car was then driven to a wooded area where he was beaten to death, allegedly by JULIAN LOCKHART. LOCKHART was charged in Connecticut with murder, robbery and theft and was charged federally with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

JULIAN LOCKHART was featured on the Fox Network program America's Most Wanted (AMW) in August 2002. A tip to AMW in the fall of 2002 put the focus of the manhunt in the Atlanta, GA area. Investigation conducted by Agents of the Atlanta Field Office of the FBI since December 2002 reached fruition this morning (06/06/03) when LOCKHART was located in an apartment at the Oaktree Apartments on Kensington Dr. in Decatur, GA. LOCKHART was arrested by Special Agents of the FBI and investigators from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office fugitive squad at 9:45 a.m. (06/06/03). LOCKHART was found asleep on a sofa in the apartment. He offered no resistance and was taken into
custody without incident. LOCKHART identified himself to the arresting agents as FREDERICK KELLEY. LOCKHART was taken to the DeKalb County jail where he was positively identified through fingerprint comparison.

JULIAN LOCKHART will remain in the DeKalb County jail pending extradition proceedings to return him to Connecticut.
