Jimmy Durante was a vaudeville star appearing in night clubs and a movie star. He was never investigated by the FBI, but he was mentioned in files of other individuals. Durante flew from Los Angeles to San Antonio, Texas to entertain a group of State Attorney Generals at their National Association of Attorney Generals meeting on June 30, 1965. He came at the request of Louisiana State Attorney General, Jack P. F. Gremillion and his chief of staff, Investigator Frank Manning. Durante had known Manning more than 25 years. Durante's home was burglarized on several different occasions. The thieves made off with about $20,000.00 in jewelry and furs on each occasion. Mr. Durante was on the Special Correspondents' list and was on a first name basis with Director Hoover.
