On September 3, 1930, two agents were detailed to guard a Federal Witness by the United States Attorney's Office in Chicago, because the Government was afraid that the witness would leave the jurisdiction. The case involved Frank Nitti, a cohort of Al Capone. Nitti, an alleged gangster, was under indictment in Chicago for income tax evasion. Nitti was a former member of the Five Point Gang in New York. The Washington Daily News dated October 31, 1930, said he was arrested in bed in a Berwyn, Illinois apartment. Frank Nitti, born Nitto, was born January 27, 1888, in Angri, Italy.
