About National HIV Testing Day

The National Association of People With AIDS (NAPWA) began National HIV Testing Day in 1995 as an event to promote testing and counseling for at-risk individuals.

NAPWA provides campaign kits and testing information to interested local organizations and health departments to help them start NHTD campaigns and hold awareness and testing events. With support from the Federal Government and private companies, NAPWA also sponsors pre-NHTD trainings and other activities.

NAPWA, founded in 1983, is the oldest association of people living with HIV/AIDS in the world, and advocates on behalf of its members and others living with the disease to promote prevention and end suffering.
