Water
Bottled Water
Generally Prohibited
Can be allowed when one or more of the following conditions have been met:
- The public water is unsafe for human consumption.
- There is an emergency failure of the water source on the installation.
- Employees are working at a temporary facility with no drinking water available within a reasonable distance.
- There is no water fit for drinking purposes available without cost or at a lower cost to the government.
Otherwise: You may not use appropriated funds to buy bottled water
EXAMPLES:
- A group of individuals is temporarily assigned to a warehouse with no drinking water is readily available. In this instance those individuals would be permitted to purchase water.
- The water coming out of your water fountain is brownish, but is ruled to be safe to drink by the county water authority. In this instance you may not purchase bottled water.
Rule of Thumb:
If you were to walk down the hall and see water fountains (and they work), this means you may not purchase bottled water.
