ONDCP and its Federal partners utilize science, medicine, and technology to achieve the goals and objectives of the National Drug Control Strategy. Through the diligent efforts of medical researchers and counterdrug enforcement technologists, addicts are completing treatment and reentering society, and drug traffickers are being apprehended and removed from society. |
CTAC oversees and coordinates the counterdrug research and development (R&D;) programs of the federal drug control agencies. It sponsors a counterdrug technology R&D; program to advance the technological capabilities of federal drug control agencies and a Technology Transfer Program to enhance the capabilities of state and local law enforcement agencies for counterdrug missions.

ONDCP's Federal partner the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) leads the Nation in bringing the power of science to bear on drug abuse and addiction. NIDA-funded studies on the biological, behavioral, and social bases of drug abuse and addiction have brought tremendous increases in the understanding of drug abuse and addiction and what can be done about them.
