NHLBI Health Information
Network
The Health Information Network of the National Heart, Lung,
and Blood Institute (NHLBI HIN) is NHLBI's health information communication
link to health professionals. When you join the Health
Information Network, you will receive information periodically by email from
the Health Information Network about the latest key research findings, clinical
advisories, programs, and educational materials available from the National
Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. You will be able to access a
password-protected unique member profile, which will allow you to select you
topic interests, so that you receive only the Health Information Network
notices that are likely to be of interest to you. You can also change your
preferences at any time in the future, and easily unsubscribe or subscribe to
Health Information Network topics at any time.
Health Information Network e-bulletins are brief, with
links to more information online. The topic areas include asthma and other lung
diseases, blood diseases and resources, cardiovascular diseases, cholesterol,
heart attack, high blood pressure, obesity, physical activity, and sleep
disorders. The frequency and number of emails received varies according to the
number of topics selected by the member, but rarely exceeds three to four per
month.
All health professionals, and those currently studying to be
health professionals, with an interest in heart, lung, blood, and sleep
disorders are encouraged to join. Our current members include dietitians,
fitness/recreation specialists, health program managers and planners, health
educators and communicators, health professions instructors, health professions
students, librarians, information specialists, nurses and nurse practitioners,
pharmacists, physicians, physician assistants, teachers and therapists.
Those with an interest in health education materials for
special populations will be particularly interested in our wide offerings of
materials in that area. Special populations covered by the Health Information
Network include African Americans, American Indians and Alaskan Natives, Asian
Americans and Pacific Islanders, Children/Youth, Latinos/Hispanics, Older
Americans, and Women.
