Council
Ambassador Miles spoke to the 7th annual conference
of the American-Georgian Business Council to discuss the current
business environment in Georgia and the changes that have occured
in Georgia over the last year. The Ambassador was part of a panel
that included the Vladimir Socor of the Jamestown Foundation, and

Hula taught at American Corner Gori
Hawaiian Hula was the newest dance craze at the American
Corner in Gori this week. Pat Kennedy, visiting from the United
States, took time out from her vacation to teach Georgians about
the traditional Hawaiian form of dance known as the "hula".
Mrs. Kennedy, who has been studying the hula in Hawaii and her hometown
of Seattle, Washington, was able to demonstrate three different
hulas and explain the meanings of different movements (complete

Embassy Hosts Reception in Honor of Renowned Georgian Artist Levan Lagidze
On Thursday, September 30, Deputy Chief of Mission Patricia Moller and Sharon Miles, spouse of Ambassador Miles, hosted a reception at the TMS Gallery featuring the art of well-known Georgian artist Levan Lagidze. Since his graduation from Tbilisi State Academy of Fine Arts in 1981, Mr. Lagidze has participated in many international and local exhibitions. His works are kept in museums, galleries, as well as in private collections in the United States and Europe (complete text) |

Tbilisi - On September 24, the U.S. Defense Institute of International Legal Studies (DIILS), with the support of the U.S. Embassy's Office for Defense Cooperation, completed a weeklong seminar on the topic of the Inspector General (IG) function in a democracy. Colonel Joseph O'Connell, Colonel Forrest Newton, Colonel Howard McGillin and Colonel David Shakes - the instructors of the seminar - handed out certificates of completion to the Georgian participants (complete text)
